To My Patients:

I hope everyone had a great summer, we certainly did. The weather could not have been better for a sailor. When my daughter returned from a two-week health “mission” to the villages of Costa Rica and Nicaragua our family spent a well-deserved week sailing the Sound.

Lots of things going on at the office: Many of you know about Helen’s love of animals, she not only volunteers at the Bronx Zoo but her own back yard has been awarded the status of Backyard Wildlife Habitat by the National Wildlife Federation. Congratulations Helen. Dona Lachmanen-Ortiz has joined our office as a full time hygienist. Dona is an outstanding hygienist with many years of experience and in her spare time she’s raising 4 children. Nicole Gonzalez and Carmella Mc Mahon have joined us as roving dental assistants. They will help schedule your appointments, bring you a hot towel at the end of your visit, and make sure that everything we use is sterilized for your safety. For both Nicole and Carmella this is their first time working in a dental practice but they, along with Dona, bring warm welcoming personalities and many talents to our team.

Dr. Henry Rapp has been with me for over a year now and the patients he’s met and treated couldn’t be happier. Since he’s doing my dentistry I’m one of them. The addition of Dr. Rapp has allowed us to double our evening hours and he has now added another Saturday each month along with Dona doing hygiene, so we can better accommodate you without taking off time from work. I want to take this opportunity to thank all of you for the confidence you show by referring your friends and family which allows us to continue to grow.

Each time I write I have to decide which of the new technologies we have added to tell you about. No contest this time. I had the privilege to be one of the first 60 doctors world wide to be trained in computer guided implant placement. Using a CT Scan and amazingly sophisticated software, we can now replace your missing teeth with almost no “surgery”, no sutures, minimal healing, and almost no discomfort. We can even do “teeth-in-an-hour” immediately after implant placement. This is an amazing service we’d be happy to explain further.

Now that everyone is back to school and we are in the fourth quarter it’s time to look at your insurance and flex spending to utilize this year’s benefits before they are lost forever. If you have flex spending many procedures including “cosmetic” enhancement can be paid with pre-tax dollars. Check to see if your company offers flex spending and speak to us about how to maximize your savings. With less than three months left please don’t put it off any longer. Make the most of your dental insurance by coming in for an examination and take care of any necessary treatment with benefits that if not used are like throwing away money.

This is also the time of year I remind everyone that November 1st we will be starting our annual “Share your Smile” toy drive. Over the last 7 years we have provided thousands of toys to children that without your help would get nothing for the holidays. We’ve all seen the tragedy of people in need and this is a great way to bring a smile to a child’s face. Bring in a new unwrapped toy and receive a $10 certificate toward any service in our office as our thank you.

We look forward to seeing you soon.

Warmest Regards,

Dr. Kenneth S. Magid
